La Tore Italy

6/4

Today we went to La Tore and it was not at all what I would have expected. We drove about 2 hours to this little farm tucked away in the hills and were invited into a small living room to listen to the local farmers talk about olive oil and olive oil production. They then showed us out to the back patio where small tables were set out with different bottles of olive oil and small cups for tasting. We sipped slowly to take in every flavor. Some were sweet, some were nutty, some bitter, some sour. We took a tour around the farm, noting the different colors of olive oil plants, sun exposure, soil nutrients and best times to harvest. When we circled back to the little house there was a five course meal waiting for us. I have fond memories of wine tasting with Emma and Matt on this trip. This cup of Cosmos is for you.
